I'm willing to bet that the participation in this video was a condition of the sale.

What am I going to wear to the AGM?
by sherrie11 into the women out there that have been honoured with an invitation this is the question they ask themself.. .
i am going to admit one of the reasons i enjoyed the meetings was getting to dress up.
how many women out there found the meetings an excuse to dress up.

Jgnat: I love that dress.
Ann: great question! Worthy of another thread.

"Truth Brings Not Peace, But A Sword" talk Jehovah's Witnesses 2013 convention
by doughnutkitty ini'm at the convention now (by parental force) and i just heard in the saturday talk "truth brings not peace, but a sword" about how it's a terrible "torture stake" that witnesses are disinherited by their worldly families when they choose to join the jehovah's witness religion and how awful and painful that is for a person to endure.
switch the situation around and you'll find it is exactly what happens to those who choose to leave the organization, but only then is it okay because "disfellowshipped people need to be disciplined"?
this is absolutely ridiculous.

What country are you in? Is this the annual meeting, or a repeat of a convention that we already heard about?

Is anyone live Tweeting from the AGM?
by laverite inhello, .
will anyone be posting live updates via twitter or on jwn during the agm?
cheers, .

There is a difference between wifi and a device that has cellular service. iPads, iPhones can be used to go online, even without wifi, if the user has that feature.

Aren't they encouraging the use of iPads now? Maybe they will have some kind of signal blocker, so you can't connect to the outside.
"We are introducing our new e-NWT bible! With automatics updates, and spyware that feeds your Internet history, directly to the branch office, who will report any "suspect" internet usage to your local elders, via instant text alerts. Have confidence in the faithful and discreet slave. Your relationship with Jehovah depends on us. We will keep the flock clean."
Imagine the built-in features they could have in a WT Bible reading app...

Go as Mary Poppins. Give all your patients a spoonful of sugar, to help the medicine go down.

Oh the irony
by Saltheart Foamfollower ini've just noticed that the text for the day after the annual meeting is "be on the watch for the false prophets that come to you in sheeps covering.matt.
7:15" - i'm sure someone can think of something witty to say.. i think that since the 90's generation change caused such an exodus, the gb have been preparing the way quite carefully before revealing new truths - eg acts book calling first century governing body, modern day governing body prepares for elevation of current gb as per recent watchtower.
now that pre 1919 has effectively been jetisoned, i think that they will eventually ditch 1914 and move last days up to knorr's day.

Is it VITAL that we recognize the faithful slave?
by Trevor Scott injw gonebad made this comment in another post:.
get a load of this audacious and brassy statement by the self-appointed fds in par 2 of todays lesson:.
it is vital that we recognize the faithful slave.

hmmm... Interesting! Let's see what scripture they use to back this up.
It is vital that we recognize the faithful slave. Our spiritual health and our relationship with God depend on this channel.—Matt. 4:4; John 17:3.
“4 But in reply he said: “It is written, ‘Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.’”
“3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.”

Not sure how these verses actually apply to the GB, but they sure are making some big claims. It seems i read somewhere, how they deny being false prophets, since they have never claimed to actually be speaking for God (You know, back when they were uninspired and predicted the end of the world).
I guess we are under new rules. New truth. Since THESE guys are speaking for God, then we can trust them this time. I mean, it is vital.

I also can not access the "links to related sites."
Both categories prompt me to login, and repeated attempts never allow me access. I'm pretty sure I'm typing the code right. I've never been able or get into these categories. Just curious!
Love this forum. Thanks so much! Valerie

How did I get here? From Bible student to baby missionary
by Faithful Witness inmy name is valerie.
i thought i would add my story to the archives, in case anyone else can relate.. i am a homeschooling mom of 2 young children, ages 7 & 5. i was "saved" (overused expression) when i was a child, attended awana until middle school, and then led a basic, worldy life as a "good person.".
one day, during a short separation from my husband, the doorbell rang.

Thanks, comatose.
I recently had another email exchange with my mom. It was another heartbreak, of course. I am so disappointed right now. I am still having a hard time coming to realization that they really believe this garbage. My parents are not your typical JW target, but got sucked in by my sister, who blackmailed my mom into attending meetings or not seeing my niece. Somehow, this led to my father, a once successful salesman, getting into a pissing contest with my brother in law... Literally, who can be the better JW? My once thinking, know it all, and stubborn father sent an email last year, to the entire family. "My top priority in life is to be a Good Jehovah's Witness." (In light of that goal, he has take a stand for my JW sister and emphasized the enormous rip in our family now). I think he is racing with my BIL, to see who can get more privileges and who will be crowned as an elder first.
Since they recently moved three prominent elders out of their thriving congregation, it will be interesting to see how things progress for them. My mom sent an email, hinting that things were changing and she seemed confused about the special meeting this weekend, and disappointed to see her friends she so dearly loves, being moved to another cong. When I asked her more about it, she quickly closed her mind and assured me that she will always make time for her JW friends, before she will for my children. It's really sad to see her miss their childhood. My kids happen to be extra cool. ;)
Today, I have no tolerance for this rude behavior. I wil forgive (again and again), but I am getting weary from the heartbreak.
